Ok, here is a list of 100 ways to increase traffic to your website. These should help you increase visitors to your website or blog. As the title suggests they are not all sensible but they may still be worth a go.

The methods are mainly for blogs, however websites can benefit too. Some of the following are just little changes that can be made that will increase traffic in ways you may not of thought. I am not suggesting you use all of them in one go, simply choose ones that suit your blog and work best. If you have any questions about any of the methods, please comment.

1. Have Your Own Domain - Do not use sub-domains at Wordpress or blogger, or use free hosting services. Pay for some blog web hosting or site web hostingand get your own unique domain name. This will make your website more memorable and encourage visitors to return.

2. A Professional and Unique Design - Code your own template or modify an existing theme for your site or blog. What makes your blog so special if it looks the same as 1000 others on the Internet. Your design should be clean and simple so its easy to navigate. Once you have made it, test it and check everything works, a site with errors will loseWeight Exercise visitors.

3 .Content is King – You need to consistently write great content on your blog. The posts that you make need to be worth reading and have some impact on the visitor. If I am visiting your website for the first time I want to be impressed and bookmark your website so I return to see what else you compose.

4. Post Linking – When a link is made to your blog from another blog, if activated, it places a link in that blogs comments back to the relevant post. This will help increase back links to your blog.

5. Personality - Do not pretend to be someone you are not as a blogger. Be yourself and do not pretend otherwise. This is best because your readers want someone to connect with, someone who is a real person and not just a blog with no face.

6. Always Room for Improvement – Always strive to improve your blog any way you can. Play around with ad placement, colours and graphics and other features to make your blog more appealing. Ask for reviews to find area’s for improvement.

7. Reply to Your Readers – This means replying to comments and any e-mails that you receive. This is part of your personality and showing that you are a real person who exists and cares about the topic you are blogging about.

8. Real Posts – Ensure that you sound human in your posts. Do not post in the third person. Use words such as I and talk about your personal experiences.

9. A Picture – A picture paints a thousand words so why not show your readers who is writing the blog. Upload an image of yourself onto your about page, or if you are not quite comfortable to do that then have a cartoon of yourself made.

10. Comment on Other Blogs - This is a very powerful technique, I know I find myself clicking the link to a persons website after I have read their comment and this is what you can achieve by leaving your comment on as many other blogs as possible. Blogs that are about the same topic will help you get targeted traffic.

11. Question Your Readers – Ask your readers questions in posts, this will help to provoke a response from them. You give them an important role to play and they respond by commenting their opinion. This will encourage repeat visitors to respond to your posts with their opinions.

12. Internal Linking – Linking to previous posts that you have made will create more back links and also encourage readers to re-read or look at some of your older work. Readers of a particular post will be interested in related posts so ensure you link to them.

13. Alternate Text Images – When you use images on your site, ensure that you use alternate text “alt” tags to insert keywords or the name of the image. This will help get the images listed on image search engines and result in traffic from that source.

14. Submit to Directories – Submit your site to online directories. Do this to as many as you can to improve your PageRank. This increased back links to your website and there for you receive higher rankings on search engines.

15. Image Use – Try to use images when posting on your blog. These make posts more fun to look at and can break up boring text.

This is the end of part one, check back soon for more ways to increase traffic.

For anyone who is interested I am now back as a web host. I avoided talking about hosting and starting your own host until I released the eBook which you can get here. The eBook teaches you how to start your own web host giving you guidance on where to start and saving hours of research.

I have setup my own host using the methods in the eBook. It is available for the public to order hosting however it is mainly used for my web design clients. Since selling my previous host I have had many requests for hosting and due to my shared hosting account nearly meeting the cost a reseller it made sense to upgrade.

If you want hosting then you can kindly order it here!

I now have a copy of WHMCS which I am very impressed with and can therefore include more details about it in future eBook revisions. It has allowed me to implement automated setup of accounts which will save me time and not leave customers waiting.

A step I seemed to have glanced over in the last post is configuring your proxy site. This is really very simple. Unzip the downloaded folder and open the config file with notepad and enter the details required.

Where does the money come from?

Next you need to register an account with Google AdSense and Adbrite. These are two of the best programs for proxy website. Implement the AdSense code into the config file however ensure AdSense is only on the home page of your proxy. On proxy enabled pages use Adbrite or your AdSense account will be banned.

How do I advertise my proxy?

You want as many users as possible on your proxy. Here are a few ways to advertise it.

Add it to signature links on forums

Use Social Bookmarking websites such as Stumble Upon.

Post on Groups such as Google and Yahoo. Find one relating to proxy sites.

Submit to link directories.

Use Proxy link sites.

Should I Sell My Proxy Website?

There is no reason why you can’t. When you think revenue is at its highest and you have covered your hosting costs then you may wish to sell. Selling may cover initial costs as well so don’t be put off. On the other hand you can create a network of proxy websites. Once this is built up you can sell them as a network and ask for more money.

I hope these tips have helped and I wish you the best with your proxy websites.

A proxy website allows you to enter the URL of a blocked website and access it bypassing any restrictions. There are loads of proxy website out there and the main reason is its easy to setup however many are blocked by web filters soon after launch.

I have run a couple of proxies in the past however was missing something i felt important and haven’t done since. Here I will guide you through how to set one up.

What Domain should I have?

The first step is to choose a good domain name. In my opinion this can be anything that you want. Feel free to include words such as proxy, school, college, unblock, surf, and alike or have an anonymous name that is less detectable. The success will come from the marketing of your proxy and not entirely the name. My advice here is to choose a memorable name that users will not forget. Remember if you are going to have lots of sites, pick a cheap domain extension.

Where do I Host my proxy?

This is one of the key elements in proxy hosting. You need a fast host to satisfy your visitors and one that can support large amounts of traffic. Many of the hosts I came across as a web host would not host proxy sites due to them taking up large amounts of sever resources. This is why its a good idea to pick a host that is happy to host proxies.

When I setup my proxy I used Hagio Host They were very helpful and had my account setup in minutes. Although an uninvited move, they added my MSN and spoke to me about my hosting and the creation of my package.

You want me to code a proxy script?

No, if you have the skills then why not. With my abilities I wisely chose to use a ready made script. You can download it here at Free Proxy Templates. The script is ready built into the template so just download, configure and upload to your server.

I am unsure of the current situation, however i believe that development for this script has stopped. This means that there may be issues with websites where features do not work with this script. For up to date information i recommend registering here and taking part on this forum.

Check back soon for more details on setting up a proxy.

Which programs will help you make money from your proxy.

Hosting is important for any website. I personally operated a web host last year so i know the ins and outs of the industry better than most. It was successfully sold last year due to my other commitments.

Finding yourself with a bad host it can effect traffic more importantly profits. A rule that i think you should follow is to find a host that is operating from your own country and has the servers located in the same country.

Another way you may wish to look at this is to choose a host in the same country as your targeted audience. This will provide them with fastest download times.

Do not be fooled by hosts that offer endless amounts of resources such as space and bandwidth. Your website is likely to use 25-50MB of disk space depending on its content. To start with it will not consume large amounts of bandwidth unless it is a video streaming website. Until visitor numbers increase it will not use excessive quantities of bandwidth.

Look for a host with a reliable up timerecord and good support. Unless you need Windows technologies such as active server pages i would recommend a Linux host as these tend to be cheaper and more common. In my opinion cPanel is a good control to look for due to it being easy to use.

If your website is selling something, I would suggest looking into security features such as SSL (https://) to increase buyer confidence by showing them your site is secure.

Check out hosting site forums and interact with other webmasters, get opinions and ask questions before selecting a web host. If the host you pick turns out to not provide a service level that you expect its relatively easy to change.

This site is hosted with eUKHost, You can view their site here.

Once you are with a host and you are happy, as i have done you can sign up as an affiliate and refer people to their service and get a commission. The link above is affiliated and its a nice way to earn some extra money. You can personally vouch for the host which shows you are not just out to make money from affiliate commissions.
