Loading ...FTP is file transfer protocol. For those of you that are unsure what it means, it is basically a way of sending files from one place to another. This could be up to upload files to your website or to download them back onto your pc.
If you don’t already have an FTP client there are hundreds to choose from online with many of them being available for free. Some cheap web hosting companies do not allow you access to FTP uploads and downloads what this usually means is logging on to their website and uploading files via that.
Although this method does work it usually means you can only upload a few files at a time. This isn’t a problem for many however if you have a number of files or photos then this can be time consuming With FTP you can simply select a directory to upload to/from and upload all of those at the same time.
Depending on your broadband speed, this could be mean uploading hundreds of files in just a few minutes Even if your internet is slow, you can select them all and leave them uploading whilst you get on with other jobs rather than having to select just a few photos at a time.
